Science in the deep underground
Take the elevator down 225 meters deep underground where a low-level radioactivity laboratory helps us understand our natural archives for example.
Since 2014, as part of the open access initiative, the JRC has been doing nuclear science at the HADES deep underground facility in the Belgian town of Mol. The facility has highly specialised equipment to measure low-level radioactivity that can only be measured underground. Natural archives can help us understand why climates have changed.
