Are we making the most of the massive amounts of data our satellites provide on our atmosphere, marine environment and land? How do we turn what we see into decisive policies?
A common used structural system for buildings are flat slabs supported by column. The SlabSTRESS project tests real scale flat slab building under seismic and cyclic loadings.
The tests make use of the unique reaction wall in the European Laboratory for Structural Assessment of the Joint Research Centre in Ispra and the project will contribute to the development of new rules for the design and detailing of flat-slab structures subjected to earthquake and gravity loads, and ultimately improve their safety.
