Fire performance at the European Laboratory for Structural Assessment

After an earthquake, fire could spread faster if compartmentation walls fail. The EQUFIRE project studied the response to fire to improve design guidelines and standards.

In seismic-prone regions, improved fire performance may be required. There are no guidelines in European standards yet which is why we study how buildings respond to fire at our Reaction Wall in the European Laboratory for Structural Assessment in Ispra in order to improve design guidelines and standards for earthquakes-resisitant buildings.
