Drought alert in Africa

Droughts are expected to become more frequent and severe as climate change continues. Scientists from Europe and Africa collaborate to develop reliable warning systems.

Water scarcity threatens local ecosystems and agriculture-based communities. Droughts disproportionately affect the most vulnerable members of a population, exposing them to food security, health, and even sanitation issues. Researchers are proposing an early warning system that would make simple recommendations based on available data.
