Life Cycle Assessment for strategical trade-offs in the bioeconomy

The Joint Research Centre has been applying Life Cycle Thinking in several contexts and projects, including the evaluation of environmental impacts of bio-based products.

Life cycle assessment methods are used to monitor and predict environmental impacts at all stages of a system’s life cycle. They can support policymaking for more effective regulation and help ensure a sustainable and circular bioeconomy by visualising strategical trade-offs.
